www.canada.com -  The international champion of a controversial "three strikes and you're out" rule that cuts off the Internet connections of people who illegally download music and movies says he'd like to see Canada move in the same direction. Anti-piracy guru Denis Olivennes devised France's proposed "graduated response" policy to crack down on online file sharing. If the French legislation to be introduced this summer becomes law, offenders will be sent e-mail warnings before their Internet accounts are suspended or shut down.

Olivennes says this approach strikes the right balance between freedom of the Internet and the protection of intellectual property.
